Bonita Joyce Wilkie

We the family of Bonita Joyce Wilkie (Morrison) regret to announce her passing on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Buchanan Memorial Hospital in Neil’s Harbour, NS.

Bonnie was a kind, gentle and loving person who treated everyone she met with compassion and care regardless of who they were. She will be missed for her laugh and her infectious warmth. She saw the best in people. After high school, Bonnie attended Cape Breton Business College in the Secretarial program. Upon graduation, she worked in a multitude of jobs using both these skills and her natural caregiver talents. She was a comfort to many. Bonnie’s favourite place was Aspy Bay and she spent as much time there in the summers as she could, visiting, socializing and boating.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Garfield, son Jacob (Kayle), daughter Jade, and granddaughter Charlie Ann, parents Allister and Ann Morrison, brothers; Allister and Joel (Patricia), sister Gina Haley (Rob) and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Bonnie was predeceased by her son Cory, grandparents Allister and Ruth Morrison, grandmother Sadie Asseff and sister Barbara Costelo (Robert).

The family would like to extend a warm and sincere thank you to the staff of Buchanan Memorial Hospital for the wonderful palliative care Bonnie received. A special thanks to Dr. Smith, Dr. Hoffer, Dr. Crewe and Dr. Ritter.

There will be a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aspy Bay United Church, 1140 Bay St, Lawrence Road, Dingwall, NS  B0C 1G0
