Catherine Shea

It is with deep sadness that we the family of Catherine (Roach)
Hudson, Shea announce her passing at Seaview Manor on
Saturday November 30 2019. Catherine was the daughter of
the late John Roach and Annie (MacInnis) Roach. She was
predeceased by first husband Blenus Hudson, son Blaine Carter
Hudson and second husband Fabian Shea, sisters Annie Stacia,
and Catherine in childhood, brothers John, Duncan, William,
Daniel, Glen and Charles, sister Laurie Wilson, and niece Lorna
Bowers. Catherine is survived by her daughter Laurie Lynn
( Jack ) Ettinger, grandchildren Tamalah Ettinger, Jonathan
(Aselin) Ettinger, and great grandchildren, Carlyn Blayne
Comer and Garrison Carter Ettinger. She is also survived by
stepson Clarey (Jerry) Shea, and stepdaughter Debbie McIssac,
sisters-in law Margaret Roach and Carrie Roach. She leaves
behind many treasured nephews and nieces. Catherine was
born and raised in Glace Bay where she resided all her life. She
was a life long member of Warden United Church. Catherine
worked as a department head at Eatons until its closing. She
became a certified nurses assistant and worked at the old Glace
Bay General Hospital. She also worked at General Instruments
in Sydney. Catherine loved baking for her family, friends, and
neighbors and was especially famous for her “carrot cakes,
gingerbread cookies and shortbread. She had a strong love for
animals and showed a great kindness and compassion towards
strays often nursing them to health. Cremation has taken place.
A graveside service for family will take place 11 AM
Wednesday December 4, 2019 at Forest Haven Cemetery. A
celebration of Catherine’s life will take place at Warden United
Church on Thursday December 5, 2019 at 3 PM. A luncheon
and a chance to meet with the family will follow the service.
