Clyde Leamon, age 76, passed away with his family by his side on January 17th, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Channel-Port aux Basques, NFLD, he is survived by his life partner of 31 years, Elsie MacKinnon, children Jenny and Walter Leamon, Anthony MacKinnon (Melissa Gouthro), Mary MacKinnon, Shauna McCallum (David), brothers and sisters Ann, Betty, Clyde, Darlene, Doug, Elizabeth, James, Joe, Steven, and grandchildren Brody, Nathan and Ryleigh. He is predeceased by his father Norman, mother Nelly, brother Michael and sister Susan.

Clyde was a heavy equipment mechanic and operator by trade; however, he truly was a jack of all trades, having an unmatched drive and passion for hard work. He spent over 25+ years working for Harriss and Harriss, worked across North America as a long-haul truck driver, worked out west as a member of local 92 laborers’ union, and worked on building homes with his dearest friend, Pat St. John.

He had a passion for fixing up antique cars and building things. Clyde could always be found in his shed playing with his many tools and equipment. Other hobbies he loved were gardening, fishing, hunting, playing tarabish, walks around the track with his friends, and having a cup of tea out on the Mira with his “baby” Elsie and best-dog friend, Bucky.

Clyde was a very special man, with an infectious laugh, who would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. People could always count on Clyde for anything, including a good story.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for close friends and family.
