Deborah Darlene Sparkes

December 15, 1962 — September 14, 2024

North Sydney

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Deborah Sparkes age 61 of North Sydney. Debbie passed away peacefully at her cabin in Washabuck on September 14, 2024.

Debbie was the daughter of Melvin and Mary Sparkes of Florence.

She lived an amazing life where her main focus was her family. She lived life to the fullest making the most of each day with what she had. Her gifts of talent contained many facets as she aged, she discovered the gift of painting, which runs in the Steffens family. Her talent here was nothing but pure beauty. With every stroke of a brush, Debbie captured moments in time that will be forever in our hearts. She instilled a strong sense of values in her structure that became an inspiration to all who had the privilege to be in her company.

Debbie fought a long hard battle with cancer and beat it a few times. She was blessed to have a team of family and friends especially her cousin Leah to embrace this difficult journey. She was loved beyond measures. The footprints of her beautiful soul will forever warm our hearts. We take comfort in knowing Debbie is pain-free and started her new journey on the same day as her Mom 12 years ago. "Mama came and took her angel home"

Debbie is survived by her common law spouse of 42yrs Peter Matheson, her daughter Melody, her son Robert Curtis (Milly), her nephew/son Dwayne (Erin), grandchildren Ember, Flint, Ruby, Ethan and Avery. Sister Denise, sister-in-law Wendy and numerous nieces and nephews. A large circle of friends who were blessed to know Debbie's love. She was predeceased by her parents Mary and Melvin, brother Melvin, sister Diane and nephew Nick Dutton.

A family service will be held at a later date in Washabuck.
