Donald Thomas Powell

It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our uncle, Donald Thomas Powell, more commonly known as Uncle Tommy, on Tuesday November 26th at his home in Sydney Nova Scotia. He was the son of the late Sara Jean and Donald Powell and predeceased by his brother Kenny, sister-in-law Kathy, and his baby sister Tammy. He is survived by his nephews Kenneth and Zachary (Brianna); nieces Karen Renee (Mark), Sara (Bryan), Casandra ‘CJ’ (Jimmy) and Glenda, and many great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Aunt Carlotta, and Uncle Dave (Ellen), and close friends Ron and Eleanor who were more like family.

After spending most of his working career at Michelin Tire in Pictou, Uncle Tommy moved back home to Sydney where he enjoyed the majority of his time at his favourite place out “the Bungalow” in Gillis Lake with friends and family.

He liked spending his time playing poker, watching sports, talking football, and listening to all types of music, new and old, as long as it wasn’t “Kennys old country music”.

Cremation has taken place under the guidance of Forest Haven. There will be no funeral service as per Tommy’s wishes.
