It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Douglas Ellwood Dawdy announce his peaceful passing on Tuesday July 19, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born Nov 5, 1931 in Thunder Bay Ontario, Doug had made adventures across the Country finally reaching his destination on the East Coast, Cape Breton Island.
Doug had a love for the woods as he spent most of his life in the mountains of BC in the Forest Industry and was a huge lover of trees, he was our Tree Hugger which he loved to be called. Doug was a free spirit and loved to adventure. Doug also had a huge love of puzzles and spent many days and hours at the McConnell Library doing so.
He will be greatly missed by his Budden Family, Jennifer, Jesse, Jami, Josie, Skye & Kaiden along with many friends he’s made over the years here on the Island.
Cremation has taken place and no service will be had as per his wishes. Donations can be made to the James McConnell Memorial Library in his memory.
