It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Douglas (Bryan) McDonald, Victoria Mines on March 8th, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age of 71.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Daniel V McDonald and the late Sadie M MacIntyre .
Bryan is survived by his loving wife of 52 years , Cheryl (Langer ) McDonald and three sons , Bryan (Michelle), Kirk (Laurie ) and Jason McDonald, special son Don Langer, seven grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Noah, Allyshia, Heather, Alex, Jennifer and two great grandchildren.
He is survived by his sisters, Donna (Francis) MacAuthor. Sheila McNeil , Rhona (Winston ) Burke , Mary Schrage ( Dave MacLean ) Delores Austin, Edmonton AB, brother Earl (Ann) McDonald and sister-in-law Bernice McDonald.
Brothers in law Rick Langer (Kim) and niece Susan Langer (Harding), Jack Langer and Bill Boutilier.
Bryan was predeceased by his brother Daniel C McDonald, mother and father in law, Doris Mossop Langer & John Langer, niece Sarah Elizabeth Langer and brother in law Joseph McNeil .
Bryan proudly worked for 25 years as a coal miner at the Cape Breton Development Corporation and was an active member of his church and community with a Diploma in Ministry from St. FX. He was a life time member of CBGSR, taught many years for the Dept of Justice and was a member of the Beagle Club. Bryan had a love for animals and all his grand doggies.
Bryan was in his personal paradise when visiting his cottage in Framboise. He will be forever remembered by his infectious laugh, wonderful storytelling, great sense of humour and his kind, loving heart.
Cremation has taken place. A mass will be held at Mount Carmel Church / St Leonard Parish, New Waterford on Tuesday, March 16th at 10:00 am. Due to covid restrictions, seating is limited to 100 close family and friends. We, the family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, doctors and support persons involved in his care . “ Thank you to all our angels on earth “ - all staff of Cape Breton Cancer Centre .
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Cancer Care Foundation CBRH.
