Edward George Higgins

 Ed Higgins (77) passed away peacefully at the Glace Bay Hospital on July 14, 2024, after a courageous battle with lung disease. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late George and Laura (Clare) Higgins formerly from the Caledonia area.

Ed is survived by his sister Donna Higgins, Walford, Ont., and her two children Stephen and Laureen, Walford, Ont., as well as niece Clare Marie Gaigneur White of Nepean Ont.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his wife Lynn (nee Tyne) in 2021 as well as their son, Brian Joseph (BJ Higgins) in 1986. He was also predeceased by his sister Beverly Higgins Gaigneur in 2016 in Ottawa.

Special thanks to my sister-in-law Annette Tyne-Porter for her continued and unselfish help over the past number of years and various hospital stays during that time. In addition, a special thank you as well to life-long friend Lawson MacDonald for his help and assistance during my recent hospital stay as well as during the past few months which, with his daily assistance, I was able to live at home with him handling any situations that arose.

There will be no service and cremation has already taken place. A private ceremony is planned for a future time.
