Ernest Allan MacAulay of Tarbot in St Ann's Bay, passed in his sleep on July 30, 2024 after a long illness. We are very grateful for the wonderful care from Dr. Tribo and the nurses at Baddeck Hospital, who we think are special kinds of angels.
Ernie had so many interests in life, but had a special connection with the First Nations Spiritual Path. Ernie was given the name Deerheart and was mentored in the Sacred teachings. For over 50 years he spoke up about racism and worked to bring an end to the damage caused by colonization.
Many people enjoyed Ernie's playful nature and sense of humour. He had lots of funny stories from the old days and spending summers at his grandparents farm in St. Ann's Bay. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, North River Bridge on Sunday August 11th at 2:00pm.
