It is with the deepest heartbreak that we, the family of Frank Lewis MacDonnell, announce his untimely passing on March 24, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer.
Frank was born on June 2nd, 1958 in Halifax Nova Scotia, to James MacDonnell and Mary Theriault, both since deceased.
Frank began his career as a power engineer at the Rehabilitation Centre in Cole Harbour, where he worked for many years. After meeting his soulmate, who then became his wife, he made the move to Cape Breton and continued his career with the Nova Scotia Health Authority, until his retirement in 2021.
Left to mourn this huge loss is the love of his life, his wife Susan. He is also survived by his children; Scott (Halifax), Erin (Halifax) and her children Justin and Brady, Marilou (Harpreet) (New Waterford) and her children Cassie and Jesse, Richard (North Side East Bay) his wife Brittany and their children Elizabeth, Brooklyn, Owen and Hudson.
He will also be greatly missed by the woman he considered a Mother-in-law, Agnes Romeo, as well as so many other close friends.
Frank was an avid hunter who loved getting into the mountains every year searching for “the big one”, and will be missed on this falls’ hunting trip. He was a huge lover of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and could always be heard loudly cheering them on.
He loved animals, especially his own fur babies Juno, Jersey and Layla.
Frank was the first one to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. He was the kindest soul with the purest heart, and his generosity and knowledge will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Special thank you to Nurse Practitioner Claudette Taylor, the Community Paramedics, the VON, the many staff members who helped, especially the staff on 4A at the CBRH, and the staff in the Palliative Care Unit.
The family is so appreciative of the wonderful friends who surrounded us and extended extra help in this difficult time. Especially Travis and Donna, Francis and Richard. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
