It is with heavy hearts and huge sadness that we announce the death of George Peter Dorey of Janvrin Island, NS at 94 years young.

George passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 16, 2022 at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home in Port Hawkesbury, NS.  George was born in Arichat, NS to Agustus and Mary (Boudreau) Dorey, on April 4^th, 1928.

George left school at the age of 8 to attend to his family’s farm. He enjoyed working as a fish-cutter at the fish plant at Richmond fisheries in Petit-de-Grat for many years. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, music, singing, dancing and whistling.

George is survived by 8 children; George (Della) Dorey, West Arichat, Geneva (Arthur) Flemming, Canso, Marlene (Mark) McCaskie, Port Elgin, Ont. , Carmella Dorey, Sylvan Lake, AB, Geraldine Dorey, Kitchener, Ont. Dale Dorey, Kitchener, Ont. Roderick (Marilyn) Dorey, Kitchener, Ont., Holly (Jason) Dorey Red Deer, AB. George has 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grand children. He is also survived by a brother Angus Dorey, Lower Sackville, NS and sister Sandra Crittenden, Mulgrave, NS and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife Doris Elizabeth (MacNeil) Dorey on November 3, 2013, a son Marvin Joseph Dorey, Halifax, NS on June 20, 2012, his parents Agustus and Mary Dorey, brothers Joseph, Halifax, Amedee Montreal, Clifford,  Janvrin Island,  Alfred,  Evanston,  NS. and sisters Viola Tyrnell,  Arichat, Theresa Dorey, Janvrin Island, Violet Dorey, West Arichat, Bertha Boudreau, Louisdale, Helen Dorey, Arichat, Agnes Goyetche, Arichat and Isabelle LeJeune of Mulgrave, Jean Hart, Janvrin Island.

Dad (George) was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend and we will miss him.

Cremation has taken place.

There will be no visitation or funeral at this time. A service may be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of one’s choice.
