Harold Edward Ashe

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Harold Edward Ashe, with family by his side, he left this world on November 12, 2022 at Taigh Na Mara. He was born in Glace Bay on October 18, 1941 to the late Harold and Lillian Ashe.

He joined the military RCR at age 17 in 1956. He served in several locations until his retirement in 1980 to return to Glace Bay to help care for his mother-in-law.  Upon returning to Glace Bay, he spent several years bartending at the Branch 3 Legion, where he was a life long member.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (McNeil), his children; Brian, Joanne, Stephen and Derrick, his seven grandchildren and his 7 great grandchildren.  Also left to mourn are his siblings, Olive, Collie, Brian, Robert, Donna, Hazel, and Wayne. 

In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his sister Dorothy and his brother Eddie.

A special thank you to all the staff at Taigh Na Mara, words cannot express our gratitude for the care and compassion over the last few years.

A service will be held at Warden United Church in Glace Bay, on Thursday November 17, 2022 at 1pm with Rev. Alison Etter presiding. A celebration of Life to follow at Branch 3.
