Irene Walker

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dear mother Irene Frances (Renee) Walker on May 21, 2021. Born (17.10.1942) in New Waterord. Irene was the daughter of the late Francis and Catherine Walker. She is survived by me, her loving son Shaun and daughter-in-law Nichole and three grandchildren Mitchell, Taylor and Breton along with her sisters, Stella, Patsy, Janie, Cathy, Terrie, Debbie, Judy and Joan. She was predeceased by her brother, Vincent and sister, Anne Marie. My Mom lived and worked for many years in New York until she decided to return to New Waterford. She carried the spirit of that city with her with many memories and great friends. While at home, she spent 25 years doing what she loved and did best, working in the bakery of the New Waterford IGA. She also enjoyed family gatherings, socializing and her precious cat Muffin. Although Mom struggled with dementia through out the years, her huge warm smiles and many laughs conveyed strongly that her grand children were her most beloved pride and joy. Mom was truly a devoted mother and in her memory I will always choose to celebrate life, knowing that she'll always be by my side and in my heart. She'll be sadly missed by all. We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the wonderful staff at the Seaview Manor; especially the Tidal View Commuity. We will be for ever grateful for your under standing, compassion and kindness. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held at a later date at St. Leonard's Church, New Waterford. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
