With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Johnathon Robert Fitzgerald of Baddeck NS, which occurred April 2nd-2024, at the age of 43, after a brief illness. “Johnny” leaves behind his loving wife Kelly, son Dawson, parents Bobby and Norma Fitzgerald (Baddeck, NS) and in-laws Gerald and Annmarie Daley (Bathurst, NB). He is also survived by countless aunts, uncles, cousins and of course-his work family.
From an early age Johnny developed a love for the outdoors and could usually be found out “Big Baddeck” fishing and hunting. He grew up playing hockey and was never happier than the times he was able to coach or watch his son on the ice. Johnny was a lifelong Montreal Canadians fan and spent many Saturday nights yelling at the TV.
Johnny graduated from Fredericton NB’s, Maritime College of Forest Technology in 2005, where he then went on to have a successful career as a Conservation Officer.
Johnny enjoyed spending time with family, friends and colleague’s; he particularly enjoyed a good deer/moose steak and a cold beer after a hard day’s work. He could often be heard asking “what kind of carry on do you have?” or stating, “sad carry on you have!” if he didn’t quite agree with you or what you were doing. He lit up a room with his laugh and was known for his quick sarcasm. He made an impact on so many people and will be missed terribly.
A Celebration of Life Service (Casual Service) will be held on April 12, 2024, from 4-7pm, at the Inverary Inn Resort-MacAulay’s Conference Center in Baddeck N.S. This will be open to anyone who knew Johnny or is wishing to pay their respects.
Cremation has already taken place- a private burial will occur at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks to donate to a charity of choice.
