Joseph 'Percy' Martell

We, the family of Percy Martell, are saddened to announce his passing at home, on Tuesday August 15th 2023. 

Dad was born & raised in L’Ardoise, NS where he resided until 2002. He then moved to Sydney where he lived for the past 21 years with his wife, Rose. Dad began working with his father as a teenager at Harris & Harris Construction, until 2009. He then moved on to work with Northern Contracting. 

Dad was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, whom love him dearly. His passing left an un-fillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. Dad had a serious side as well as a goofy side and loved to play trickster on anyone he could. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he was the best father and grandfather he could possibly be. 

Percy was a son of the late Stephen ‘Ken’ & Evangeline (Mombourquette) Martell, of L’Ardoise. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rose. His children, Kimberly (Matthew Landry), Crystal (Randy Bowles) & Brandon. Step children Garrette (Heidi) LeRoux, Kenny and Daniel MacInnis. Grandsons Ryker Bowles & Lukas McNeil. Brothers and sisters Alex, Steve (Velma), Gerard (Zelma), Elsie Deveau, Joe. C (Linda), Mildred (Danny) Briand, Bernadette, Elizabeth (Vernon) Hudson, Howard, Victor (Joan) and many nieces and nephews. Mother-in-law Dorothy Chipman, sister-in-law Dorothy (Darrell) Locke & brother-in-law David Chipman. Last but certainly not least, family pets, Brandy & Bo. 

He was predeceased by his brother Henry, brother-in-law Delbert Deveau & sister-in-law Gale. 

We would like to thank Palliative care, Home care, VON, the nursing staff on the 4th floor at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and The Cape Breton Cancer center. 

Cremation has taken place under the guidance of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, and there will be a Memorial service at the L’Ardoise Guardian Angels Parish on Friday August 25, 2023 at 11am with Fr. John Yake officiating, a reception will follow.
