“May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young”
With heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of Kenneth Wayne Penny who till the end remained forever young. Wayne was best known for his love for his children, grandchildren, friends, the Flyers, the Steelers, and a good time. If you couldn’t find a good time Wayne could create one out of thin air, on the golf course, hanging out on Hugh Street, or putting in a hard day's work. His quirky taste in various genres of music, love for a great debate, knowledge of sports, boundless imagination, and quick wit always made for an entertaining time. Wayne will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, a true friend, avid golfer, a hard-working man, an engaging storyteller, and one of the boys.
He is survived by his wife Cathie, devoted children Laura, Jonathan (Darlene), Mark, Hannah (Christian), his greatest source of pride his grandchildren Allie, Kate, and Devon, his close friends The Aucoins, Caseys, and Gorees, and his many cousins.
His family would like to extend the utmost thanks to the gracious team in the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional, Brennen especially, and the nursing staff in 4D.
Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the SPCA.
A celebration of life will be held on April 20th, from 2-4pm at the Ashby Legion.
