Leona Marie MacLean

July 30, 1947 – September 19, 2020

Born in Poulamon, Leona moved to Sydney early in life with her many brothers and sisters. In 1966, she met Mike and they went on to share 54 years together. Mike and Nono touched our lives as few couples could and set the example for what marriage and a life shared in love should be. Leona was 'mom' to all, a beloved wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Predeceased by her beloved son Michael, parents Alfreda and Godfrey, brothers George & Leo, and her sister Jean.

Leona is survived by her husband Michael; daughters Jeanie (JJ), Katie (David), and Nita; siblings Janet (Richard), Glenda (Thomas), Elaine, and Donnie; grandchildren Brianna (Kenneth), Kathryn, Michael, Burke and John; and many nieces and nephews.

Leona worked at MacLean Brothers and O.N. Mann, but most will remember her from her time as the local school bus driver.

She passed peacefully with her family by her side.

Special thanks to Roxanne Gillis and the staff at Celtic Court, as well as Dr. S. Hall who took great care of her in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to MADD Cape Breton. Cremation has taken place and the family will share in a private celebration of her life once it is safe to do so.
