Marty Robert Piercey

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Martin 'Marty' Piercey, 71, of Glace Bay, NS, on Thursday October 20, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Walter and Agnes Piercey of Glace Bay.

He was a true lifelong fan of the Montreal Canadiens. You could always hear him making a joke about the Maple Leafs any chance he could.  He worked as a carpenter for many of his years, loved to play darts, watch sporting events, play bingo and spend time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Marty coached the Tigers for many years for Glace Bay Little League with his loving wife Judy. You would never see Marty without her.

Marty is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy, his beloved children; Tammy (Albert) Cluett, Shearwater, NS, Robert (Karrah) Piercy, Glace Bay, NS; Special Son Justin Piercy, Glace Bay, NS, grandchildren;  Alana Piercy,  Lauren Piercy, Matthew (Bella) Piercy, Ethan Cluett, great-grandchildren Cecilya 'Gurtie', Bennett Piercy, and Charlie Bella Warren who was like a son to Marty. He is predeceased by his parents, and his parents-in-law Villie and Quack Morgan of Glace Bay.

Words cannot express the gratitude that our family has for the staff of 4D at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and the Hospice Cape Breton in Membertou for the wonderful care, compassion, dignity, respect and overall support that Martin and family received. A special thank you to Laurel Beth at the Glace Bay General Hospital and his Physician Dr. Mark Ellerker for all your support over the many years.
