Born in Inverness on April 12, 1952, she was the daughter of Johnnie and Angeline LeLievre.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Mae (LeLievre) Murphy 72, of Sydney, Nova Scotia after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by members of her family, she was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother and her greatest passion was for her children and grandchildren.

Besides being a longtime volunteer at the Cancer Center at the Regional Hospital she worked for Mabou Gardens and the Central Supplies Garden Center and was a member and supporter of Her Tops Group and the Cape Breastoners Dragon Boat Team.

She is survived by her husband Cliff Murphy, Sydney; her daughter Michelle Murphy, Sydney; sons Timothy (Verna) Murphy, Fort McMurray AB, Craig (Nancy) Murphy, Fort McMurray, AB, grandchildren Shalyn, Tessa and Shayleen, Fort McMurray AB and Alyssa, Sydney, NS, Mitchell, Cold Lake, AB, Nathanial (Kayley) Fort McMurray AB and Ethan, Sydney, NS, sisters Beatrice (Leonel Cormier) East Margaree, NS; Annette (Francis MacLellan) Inverness, NS, Angie LeLievre, Inverness NS. Brothers Paul (Marie) LeLievre, Inverness, NS; Clifford (Debbie) Sydney, NS, sisters in law Ellen MacIsaac, Dartmouth NS, Janet Murphy, Denman Island, BC, brothers in law Floyd (Gloria) Murphy, Richmond, BC and Danford (Debbie) Murphy, Mabou, NS and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister Dina (Paul MacInnis), Louisdale, NS, brothers Johnnie Boy, Inverness, NS and Joe (Denise) LeLievre, Kitchener, ON, sister in law Lyndsey (Janet Murphy) Jennings.

Cremation has taken place and funeral announcements will be made at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County or a charity of choice.
