Meaghan Angela Clarke

It is with profound sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our precious Meaghan on October 12th 2024, at the An Cala unit of the CBRH. Born July 3rd, 1984 in North Sydney, Meg is the eldest child of Steve and Angela (Romeo) Clarke. Throughout her illness and in her final days, Meg was comforted by the love and support of her family and friends.

Besides her mom and dad, Meg is survived by her best friends – her siblings – Alanna and Stephen (Shalane). Three very different people, they are united by a shared “weird” sense of humour and the ability to finish each other’s sentences. The love they have for each other is evident to anyone who has met them. Of the trio, Meg has always been the “mother hen” and instigator of many family suppers.

Meg is also survived by her beloved niece and nephew: Thea (Meg’s bestie) and Dominic (Meggie’s Boy). Meg made sure their hearts were filled with so much love, and her bank account attests to her inability to deny them anything! Meg also leaves her Gram and Grampie (Eileen and Angus Romeo), her aunts Goretti (Warren), Glenna (Curtis), Marina (Dave) and Kelly (Jody); her uncles Carey (Tanya) and Jerry (Peggy), and her beloved cousins and their families. Meg loved to be with family and she has a lifetime of memories of home and Jersey Cove gatherings.

Meg is predeceased by Grandmother and Grandfather (Betty and Jerry Clarke), who we know were awaiting her arrival in Heaven with love and big hugs.

Meg obtained her B.Ed from UPEI (2009) and her M.Ed (Diverse Learners) from MSVU. She taught in many schools throughout her career, but she found “her home” as a resource teacher at Glace Bay High. She forged bonds with her students and with staff alike, and we would be remiss if we failed to mention the support and love offered by Aimee, Michelle, Tanya, Jean Guy and Ryan. Meg’s smile and her kind nature will be remembered by everyone whose lives she touched. In Meg’s memory, we ask that you pass on some small act of kindness.

Cremation has taken place. At Meg’s request there will be no visitation, and a private family service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Meg’s memory to the Cape Breton Cancer Center, the An Cala unit at the CBRH or to Victoria’s Quilts of Canada.

She was brave

and just like the sun

she kept rising
