Michael Thomas McNabb

December 6, 1967 — January 12, 2025

Sydney

Michael Thomas McNabb was born on December 6, 1967 in Ottawa, Ontario to George and Suzanne McNabb. He was the middle child of three boys and predeceased by his parents.

Michael lived all around Canada for most of his life and finally settled in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

He faced many challenges and found his goal in life at a late age. Michael worked hard in school to become an electrician, with his learning disability it was not easy. He had an awesome support system, his family and his employers at RH Electric, who helped him obtain his Journeyman Electrician License.

Michael still had goals he wanted to accomplish and set out for Cape Breton to start his own electrical business. It was hard and he faced many obstacles but in time started to get his own work going before falling ill.

Michael loved Cape Breton and visited his late Nanny Brown as a child at Bras D’Or Lake. He always fondly remembered driving down the hill by Black Rock to her house thinking they were finally there. Michael’s favourite thing to do was drive around taking pictures of lighthouses and amassed an amazing collection of lighthouse pictures from Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Michael recently became ill in September 2024 and was diagnosed with cancer in December 2024. By then it was too late for him to fight that battle. He passed away at Cape Breton Regional Hospital on January 12, 2025.

Michael leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Michelle and his children, Megan Strongquill, Tyson Genaille, McKayla (Freddy) McNabb, and his grandson Marshall Strongquill and granddaughter Rhiannon Broussard. As well as his brothers Stephen (Sandie) McNabb and Jason McNabb and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandchildren here in Cape Breton and other places across the country.

Michael was immensely loved and will be missed greatly.
