It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Glenn Locklear on December 17th, 2024 at the Harbourstone Long Term Care Facility, with his wife Karen at his side. Glenn was born in Aiken, South Carolina, on May 13, 1961, to Raymond Locklear and Joan Mullins. Glenn worked as a master machinist in South Carolina. In his spare time he built and raced dirt-track cars with his little brother Ken, went sports fishing, and cruised on his Harley. He was on a motorcycle vacation in Cape Breton when he met the love of his life, Karen, and moved to Cape Breton. They were married in 2004.
Glenn worked for Bounty Bay Mussel Farm and Dexter Construction until his illness prevented him from working. Glenn was an avid outdoorsman and loved trout fishing in the Barrachois, golfing with friends, and getting the winter firewood supply cut, split and stacked. He liked working on his Harley and enjoyed chatting with Rocky when he delivered the mail.
Glenn is survived by his beloved wife Karen (nee Smith), her children Karla, Charlotte and Logan and her grandchildren, his loving mother Joan Mullins, younger brother Ken Locklear (Debbie), sisters Debra Junker and Janet Clonts, special friend and neighbour Anna Carmichael, and his little buddy Konky the cat. He was predeceased by his father Raymond Locklear and stepfather Glenn Mullins.
We would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Victoria Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, and the staff on McDougall Court at Harbourstone for all their compassion, kindness and care of Glenn these past years. There will be a celebration of Glenn’s life, on a date to be announced, in lieu of a funeral service and visitation. Donation can be made in Glenn’s name to the Alzheimers Society of Canada.
