Reginald McDonald

It is with sadness, that we the family announce the passing of our father Reginald Francis McDonald of Glace Bay on January 16, 2022 at the age of 71. He was a son of the late John Francis and Catherine Elizabeth McDonald from Gardiner Mines. In his younger years Dad worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Glace Bay, Baxter’s Dairy in Westmount and then started in the grocery business with Dan Gillis Meat Market and continued in the grocery business until his retirement. While his main love was for his family, he enjoyed baseball and hockey and in later years it was slo-pitch, darts and cards.

He is survived by his children Reggie (Christine), Alicia (Donald Wayne), David (Tanya), Rhonda. His siblings Billy, Laura (Brian), Danny (Juliette), the mother of his children Barbara McDonald and also sister-in-Law Carol Ann McDonald. He is also survived by his grandchildren Bret, Ava, Luca, Kaylah, Joshua, Tyler and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Reggie is predeceased by brothers Johnny and Louie, brother-in-law Wayne Scheller Sr. and sister-in-law Verna McDonald.

The Montreal Canadians lost their biggest fan .

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.

There will be no visitation or service and burial will take place at a later date. Donations in Reggie’s memory can be made to Palliative Care at the Regional Hospital.
