It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Newton Fogarty, a beloved father, cherished friend, and pillar of his community. Richard departed peacefully on May 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness.
Richard's life was a testament to his passion for family, faith, and the great outdoors. Born on May 30, 1938, on Grand Lake Rd., he found solace and joy in nature, whether boating on the lake or teeing off on the green. His infectious laughter and captivating stories will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his love for nature, Richard was renowned for his expertise in job placement, a skill that touched countless lives and earned him recognition in an article in SaltWire Cape Breton. His dedication to helping others extended beyond the professional realm, as evidenced by his active involvement in the Saint Theresa prayer group and various community organizations. Richard is survived by his son David Fogarty (Candace Mackinnon), sister Florence Poirier, nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Connie, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories.
As we mourn Richard's passing, we are profoundly grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends and community members. Your kindness has provided solace during this difficult time and serves as a testament to the profound impact Richard had on all who knew him.
A service in celebration of Richard's life will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Parish on Thursday, May 30 at 2:00 pm, where we will gather to honor his memory, share stories, and find solace in each other's company. Though Richard may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. May his legacy of love and compassion continue to inspire us all.
