Ronald Samuel Cassell

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ron, a beloved friend, family member, and cherished member of our community, who left us peacefully on March 8th after a courageous battle with COPD.

Ron was born on July 12, 1949 to Mary and Kenneth Cassell in Jackson’s Arm, Newfoundland.

Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by Sisters Maude, Whillmenia and Florence and by his first wife Jeanette.

Ron was a quiet and humble man, whose kindness and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he was not one to seek the spotlight, his presence was felt in every corner of his life. He would always offer a helping hand when needed, and bring a sense of calm and reassurance to those around him. His heart was open and generous, always putting the needs of others before his own. Whether it was through small acts of kindness or simply offering his time and support, Ron was a true example of selflessness. His quiet strength and warmth will be missed by all who had the honor of crossing paths with him. He loved to cook and later in life, loved to watch Law and Order.

Ron is survived by his brother David (Sheila) Cassell, brother Randy (Pauline) Cassell, his feline friend Pushy, stepson Lloyd Francis and his partner of many years and his rock, Lillian Francis and many friends and extended family. Per his wishes, there will be no funeral services, cremation has taken place. A private graveside burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Haley Street Adult Services. The family would like to thank Northside Homemakers for their many years of home care support as well as the staff in 4A of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy of kindness live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
