It is with greatest love and much sorrow that I, Norma (Binder) McLean announce the passing of my husband of 63 years Simon Francis McLean. Born in Dominion, he was the son of Simon and Margaret (MacLeod) McLean. Simon came from a large family of which he was one of the youngest.

He is survived by his sister Audrey (Gerard) MacNeil, special niece Dianne O’Neil, special nephew Russell Gouthro. Simon is also survived by his brother-in-law Allisdair (Barb) Binder, special nephews John (Hilda) Binder and Kevin (Laura) Binder, godson Todd Binder and goddaughter Melanie Binder. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Lorraine MacKinnon in December.

Simon operated a Texaco Station in Dominion, worked as Manager for Sears Canada Ltd. in Glace Bay and Sydney. After he retired he ran Bay Sports in Glace Bay. He was made a life member of the Kinsmen Association of Canada by the Glace Bay Kinsmen Club. He was also a long time member of the Jaycees.

We were so blessed to have such wonderful nieces and nephews who were always there for us. Donations can be made to the Palliative Care of Sydney, VON or a charity of your choice.

Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross church on Thursday at 10:00 AM with Father Norman McPhee officiating. 50 people will be allowed including family with Covid restrictions being followed.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Condolences to the family can be made by visiting www.foresthaven.ca
