Susan Ann Young

We sadly announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Susan Ann Young on Friday April 11, 2025 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, NS. Susan was born in Smith Falls, ON, she, however, lived most her life in Greenfield Park, QC.

She is predeceased by her husband Peter Muise and her parents Frederick (Lloyd) and Ruby Young. She is survived by her daughter Sheryl Goodall and her son Scott Goodall (Mary), her brother Richard (Sharlene) and her beloved grandchildren; Nicholas MacKenzie (Erin), Emma MacKenzie (Amanda) and Shawn Goodall. She is also survived by her cousins Penny Schioldan and Sandra White (Conrad) and her niece Carolann Daigle-Young (Adam).

Susan was an avid volunteer. She was a much beloved "Brown Owl" with the brownies of Greenfield Park for many years and worked within the greater guiding community for many additional years. After having moved to Cape Breton she became a passionate volunteer with the Ferral and Abandoned Cat Society where she personally trapped over 3500 cats. As a trained bookkeeper she also did their books and record keeping for close to 15 years. She was a huge cat lover and loved to show off the tattoos of her cats right up to her dying day. She was also an avid quilter and many who knew her have been blessed with some of her beautiful creations. Her only regret at the end was that she still had so many quilts left to do.

Having always been a woman who knew her mind, mom chose to use MAiD at the end of her life after a short battle with cancer. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses involved with MAiD and palliative Care, as well as everyone on 3A for the great care they showed her at every step of this journey. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Cremation has occurred and as per her requests no services will occur. Those with her at the end shared cupcakes as was her wish.
