William "Bill" Roberts

We the family of William "Bill" Arthur Roberts are saddened to announce his sudden passing on January 5th, 2021 at the age of 83. He was the son of the late William and Katherine Roberts of Glace Bay.

Bill was a Pipefitter with Local 682, where he worked throughout Canada. He was an avid athlete and played baseball for teams such as the No. 11 Antonians, and the Parkside softball team of which he had countless stories to tell. He also loved hockey, bowling and broomball. In his later years he took up Curling. Bill enjoyed board games, puzzles and a good game of Tarbish. His pride and joy was his cottage on the Mira River where you could always find him puttering around the yard with his gardening tools. Above all, Bill loved spending time with his family.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, June MacNeil. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Margaret (Norris); brother Seth (Jean) of Burlington, ON; children Sheila (Blair) Roberts-Pyke, William, Shauna Roberts-Brufatto, all of Glace Bay, Billie Ann McDonald (Andy) of Halifax; Grandchildren, Joseph, Courtney, Alisha, Ryan, Brandon, Will, Lindsay, Matthew; Great-Grandchildren Broden, Graham, Liam, Jordyn, Kiley, Nixon and Kaiden.

We'd like to thank all the staff at Wentworth Court at Habourstone Nursing Home for their outstanding care of our loving husband and father. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society or charity of your choice.
As per Bills wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date.
